Michael is our hero.
We had a really really good two days last week. We were really ambitious when we set our goal of finishing #94 by the end of March, but if we keep having days like last week, I think we have a chance.
Last week:
A huge thank you to Michael Nerrie for coming and single-handedly taking down the entire wooden loft structure in the back of #94. He was up there for 2 or 3 hours straight hunting hidden nails and took a biiiiig item off our to-do list. Thank you Kate Nerrie for also giving us your afternoon and taking a final pass picking over all the screws and chunks of drywall that we missed. Speaking of that, Erica and I finished removing all the drywall, and started cleaning up some of the ratty insulation. She also did a number on the bathroom, pulling out the sinks and the gross plastic sheeting on the walls.
The previous owners took a few shortcuts caring for the building over the years, including removing a window and replacing it with a single piece of plywood on the inside and, not kidding, a plastic Pepsi sign on the outside. We sealed up the hole and put up temporary new siding on the outside. We'll have to go back when the ground thaws and touch up the outside.
Tour dates:
Today: cleaning the walls in the back room, removing the old water heater, removing the rest of the bad insulation. We might even start laying out the drop ceiling if we're doing really well.
Thur 2/16: Will be a much shorter day than usual. Probably just a quick clean up day. We're meeting with some folks that will hopefully give us money. It's also the two-year anniversary of my dad's passing so we'll be doing some family stuff.
Wed 2/22: Concrete sealing, priming and painting. Drop ceiling installation.
Thu 2/23: The rest of this week really depends on where the electricians are in their process. Maybe we'll be ready to start replacing insulation and hanging drywall. We'll see.
Let us know if you can stop by! We would love to have you.
All our love,
Tim and Erica
