We bought some buildings!
Hi friends,
As you may know, Erica and I have embarked together on a little adventure renovating some buildings in Bellows Falls, VT. You've either expressed interest in getting updates about our progress, or the opportunity, yes the opportunity! to come and lend a hand with the work. You also might be here because we love you and want you to know what we're up to. So we thought we'd start a little newsletter to keep folks in the loop.
Context:
Erica and I are moving to Walpole, NH, to be with my wonderful mom, Ting. Erica, being the badass boss that she is, decided to look for some commercial property in the area to buy that would house her salon. It was also her idea, one I will be eternally grateful for, to find a space that would also accomodate a studio for me. We landed on 92 and 94 Rockingham St in Bellows Falls, VT, two properties that were sold together as a cute little team. Our lease in Boston is up in September, so we're attempting to complete a ton of renovation before we move for good on September 1.
The Ultimate Plan:
#94 will be a commercial rental of some sort, and we're eagerly looking for renters. If you know anyone who's interested, please forward their contact info to us. A cute little retail shop could do wonderfully there.
#92 will be Erica's salon on the first floor and Tim's art studio on the second floor. The two ventures together will be named Studio 92.
How we get there:
Renovating #94 is our top priority. The work is mostly cosmetic, but she needs a real good scrubbin'. We are doing everything we can to get the building rentable by the end of March.
Once #94 is rented, we can focus our attention on #92. We're gutting the first floor entirely (it used to be a commercial kitchen)(it's greasy)(to say the least). We're also removing an overhanging balcony. So needless to say, the work on #92 is a bit more substantial.
How we're going to use this email:
I figure I'll send out an email every week or so to keep folks in the loop and let you know when we'll be there. Perhaps you let us know if you'd like to swing by. If you want off this mailing list, just let us know, no hard feelings. But you'll miss out on our adventures and my jokes.
Tour dates:
Wednesday 2/8 - continue pulling down drywall and loft structure in #94
Thursday 2/9 - definitely finish demo if we didn't yesterday.
Wednesday 2/15 - First layer of concrete sealant. Probably something else messy.
Thursday 2/16 - probably a short clean up day. We have a meeting in the afternoon.
We're planning on being there most Wednesdays and Thursdays moving forward, with the occasional weekend here and there.
